Role Description

This is an amazing opportunity to join an iconic NZ high fashion brand. We are looking for an experienced Production Co-ordinator/Garment Tech to support the Design team. This is a senior position and the key relationships are the Design Team, Offshore Suppliers, Production Team and Operations.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Spec Technician & Production Coordinator manages the technical development process from design concept through to bulk production. Working closely with the Design Team, this role ensures garments are accurately specified, production-ready, and delivered on time to company quality standards. Acting as the key liaison with offshore suppliers, the successful candidate will oversee sampling, fit, documentation and critical path management to support smooth seasonal execution.

This is a hands-on technical role suited to someone detail-focused, collaborative, and confident in garment construction and offshore production processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Technical Development & Fit

  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical specification packs in collaboration with Design.
  • Produce and update garment sketches (COREL or equivalent).
  • Lead and manage garment fittings (protos, SMS, production samples).
  • Measure garments against approved blocks and specifications.
  • Identify fit and construction refinements to improve garment performance.
  • Record and communicate all amendments clearly to suppliers.
  • Ensure final sign-off before bulk production.

Supplier Liaison & Production Coordination

  • Act as key point of contact with offshore suppliers throughout development and production.
  • Maintain and monitor the seasonal critical path.
  • Coordinate sampling timelines to meet range deadlines.
  • Approve construction, trims, and fabric quality prior to production.
  • Ensure trims and components are ordered in line with production schedules.
  • Maintain organised technical documentation and correspondence.

Quality & Process Control

  • Check and assess samples at all stages of development.
  • Company quality standards across all styles.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues early to minimise production risk.
  • Coordinate courier shipments and sample logistics as required.

Requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3–5+ years’ experience in garment technical development or production coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction and fit.
  • Proven experience working with offshore suppliers.
  • High proficiency in technical specification writing.
  • Experience managing seasonal critical paths.
  • Proficiency in COREL or similar software.
  • Highly organised and detail driven.
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative working style.

The role is full-time with negotiable hours if required. Primarily office-based with flexibility to work from home 1–2 days per week, subject to seasonal workflow.
