Role Description

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a dynamic, creative, innovative and experienced Project Team Leader to join their team, who in addition to Design, the successful applicant will possess a technical mindset, along with off-shore production experience.

Key Duties:

As the Project Team Leader for workwear apparel, you will play a pivotal role in managing, optimizing and delivering product strategy, and to the launch of a signature apparel range to market in tandem with other key stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:

Product Strategy and Process Planning:

  • Implement and deliver product strategies in collaboration with the internal team and suppliers.
  • Research key market trends and demands to ensure products meet the market’s requirements once they’re launched.
  • Bring valuable process and procedure guidance to the company’s team, from concept to production design, procurement coordination, forecasting, managing PO document packs, supplier negotiations, sample/fit assessments, standards compliance and strategy alignment.
  • Ensure technological monitoring in order to fuel the perpetual quest for innovation and continuous improvement of products.

Product information management:

  • Manage the fit sessions, spec and pattern techpack creation process with the technical team and ensure key stakeholders are involved in delivering on requirements.
  • Ensure that concise and accurate product information is being shared with suppliers to gain pricing and establish supplier relationships.
  • Maintain certifications of products, fabrics, accessories, technical documentation and manufacturing techniques up to date.

Supplier relations:

  • Deal with current suppliers to determine if they’re a good fit for the product range based on, pricing, quality control, fabric offerings, management personnel, factory capacity, ethics etc.
  • Establish new relationships with new innovative suppliers that will be suitable to produce the range of products required.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive database of industry suppliers, including known and researched potential suppliers.
  • Work with current purchasing manager to arrange orders and manage stock requirements with suppliers.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Relevant diploma in a technical field (industrial design, pattern, techpack, design etc.)
  • Proven experience in project management within the workwear apparel industry.
  • Strong knowledge procurement processes, negotiations, and supply chain management and reporting.
  • Sound knowledge of technical product details such as spec sheets, pattern files, grading charts and tech packs.
  • Familiarity with quality control systems and 3rd party QC reporting.
  • High attention to detail is essential.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills – MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • Competent user of PAD System software.
  • Able to assist with photo shoots.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use own initiative but also work as a team.
  • Adaptability – adjusts approach and thinking in order to work effectively with a variety of situations and people.
